Software Developer – UK Data Service
Salary: From £33,000 per annum negotiable depending on experience
Contract: Permanent
Location: Hybrid - flexibility to work from home or at any of our main hubs (London, Bristol, Manchester and Harwell)

About the role:
We are a small team who provide access to census and international data, and evidence and promote impact of research supported by data in our collection.

In this exciting role you will develop new platforms for making census and international data available to users, maintain current platforms and retire old systems as required.

Responsibilities will include:
  • Contribute to the development of a range of applications to UK Data Service platforms by writing high quality code to agreed standards
  • Follow Jisc’s process for secure application and software development
  • Work with users, product owners and team members to understand requirements, and help translate these into development tasks
  • Work with team members to understand the complex structures of census aggregate data and international macrodata

Key Skills and Experience:
  • Ability to develop expertise in new languages and technologies
  • Ideally some experience in JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Node.js and knowledge of cloud
  • A willingness and passion for learning new technology as required
  • Ability to act and work both independently and as an enthusiastic team member
